Home Start - Shop, Cook and Eat Programme

Home-Start Southwark is currently running an innovative project, which is funded by the Department of Health for 3 years. The aim of the programme is to improve the health and well being of some of the most disadvantaged families in the borough by teaching the parents about healthy food choices, good nutrition and cookery skills.

The project was set up in June 2009 in response to Southwark experiencing some of the highest rates of unhealthy weight in children throughout the UK. A grant of £6,000 from the Foundation is funding the associated costs for the food and supermarket tours.
