We believe in supporting the local causes our colleagues get behind, helping to make a difference to your local community. For us, sharing their passion is the ideal way to give something back to the communities that support us. That is why we set up the Asda Foundation, which through a range of projects supports good causes across the UK.

Jack’s Ward Northwick Park Hospital - £15,700

Asda Wembley/Watford/North West London Region

This will match the £15,700 already raised by the region to create a sensory garden in the children’s area of the hospital to make the visits to the children’s hospital more therapeutic – as there is no outside play area and many children receive chemotherapy on a daily basis.

New Hope Trust

Watford

The WNHT operates 15 different services for the homeless and vulnerable people in Watford and the surrounding areas. They are always looking at ways to raise funds to help with their operating costs.

They have had a piece of land donated by the local council and they are looking at growing plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables. This will all be managed by the centre with the involvement of many of their residents to help build self-esteem .

The Asda Foundation donated £22,000. All items that are grown will then be sold in their charity shop and the money will be reinvested in the charity. They now have all funds to get the project started.

Wetheringsett Community Play Park

Stowmarket

This village has many families with small children who previously have had to travel to another village to use play facilities. The whole village have pulled together to raise funds towards play facilities on the grounds around their village hall. The donation of £5,000 from the Asda Foundation will enable the village to purchase another large piece of play equipment.

Church Community Centre

Chelmsford

The community centre is the hub of the local community and is used for meetings, tumble tots, bingo, sessions for the elderly and activities for teenagers, to name just a few.

The centre was in need of updating and the community was constantly fundraising. The Asda Foundation donated £18,000 to cover the shortfall needed to replace the flooring, lighting and blinds.

The centre is now complete and has made a real long-term difference to the local community.
