We believe in supporting the local causes our colleagues get behind, helping to make a difference to your local community. For us, sharing their passion is the ideal way to give something back to the communities that support us. That is why we set up the Asda Foundation, which through a range of projects supports good causes across the UK.

Biddick Gymnastic Club - £15,000

Washington

The local gymnastics group have moved to bigger premises due to high demand. The new premises needed a lot of work. The Asda Foundation has donated £15,000 for the club to buy a new springboard which is vital to further develop the gymnast skills. The centre also offers other activities and facilities including Parent and Toddler group sessions.

Washington Village Community Association

Washington Village Community Association - £10,000

Washington CDC

This is a centre in the heart of the community and is used by a number of different groups including dance classes, fitness groups and mother and toddler groups. The centre has been around for many years and now needs work to bring them up to date with Health and Safety regulations. This is what the Asda Foundation donation will pay for.

The Elim Community Centre

Hartlepool

This is a new project to support disadvantaged people in the local community which will house a cafe, meeting rooms and bedrooms. The Foundation’s donation of £15,000 will enable them to divide the upstairs into two areas for vulnerable people to have a safe place to stay.

Ormsgill Youth Project

Barrow

Ormsgill Residents and Tenants Association have been successful in obtaining funding to host a youth facility in the old Ormsgill Library Building. The facility is aimed at 8-14 year olds. The facility will give the young people sense of responsibility in terms of attending the youth club which they would gain life skills. £5,000 in funding from the Foundation this will enable them to purchase the much needed equipment and furniture.

East Durham Heritage Group

Seaham

£10,000 from the Asda Foundation will go towards completing the restoration of the George Elmy Lifeboat and its return back to the original 1870 lifeboat house as the centre piece for the local Industrial Heritage Centre.

There is significant interest in the project locally and it will also be used for educational visits by schools, scout groups and the general public visiting the area.

Siddick Nature Reserve Renovation and Improvement

Workington

The Nature Reserve is one of the largest in the UK and once renovated will benefit the community and local schools. £5,000 from The Asda Foundation will be used to create a wetland for the birds and also improve the signage around the area.
