We believe in supporting the local causes our colleagues get behind, helping to make a difference to your local community. For us, sharing their passion is the ideal way to give something back to the communities that support us. That is why we set up the Asda Foundation, which through a range of projects supports good causes across the UK.

Taunton Youth Café - £24,500

Taunton

This is a project set up by Adam Fouracre who set up the charity group stand against violence. This is his next project he is trying to help stamp out kids turning to alcohol and violence and feels there is not enough facilities in the local area for the local youth. He already has the support of many local businesses including Taunton Deane Council and the Avon and Somerset Police. The money is to pay for the lease on the facilities and also equipment needed to run a café to give the local youths somewhere to go and for the volunteers to also offer support and advice if needed. A truly local project that the Asda Foundation is proud to support.

James Hopkins Trust

Gloucester

The centre is currently used by children/parents across Gloucester and they offer the facilities to severely disabled/terminally ill children between the age of 0 and 6. The support they offer provides the wider family to improve the quality of life for the siblings who miss out on time with parents due to the care needed by the disabled child.

The donation will enable the trust to convert one of the rooms into a bedroom for 2 children and 2 nurses, which will include specialised disabled cots for babies and special beds for the older toddlers, and other specialised equipment for the room.

Local School

Weston Super Mare

The school has been fundraising for a much needed covered area to accommodate a class of around 30 pupils. This is a small school which only receives a small amount of government funding but the Foundation was happy to donate the final amount of £3,000 to make this happen.
