Asda helping to safeguard 2012 outdoor spaces for sport, play and recreation

2012 Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge 2010 was a landmark year for the charity, as they announced the launch of The Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge, led by HRH Duke of Cambridge, to mark her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

The Challenge aims to protect 2012 outdoor recreational spaces by 2012, to create a permanent living legacy of both the Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics for future generations.

Asda is proud to be working with Fields in Trust to deliver this exciting national programme which will make free sport and recreation accessible to every Asda community through the preservation of playing fields local to our stores across the UK.

Our new partnership with Fields in Trust

Kate Middleton - Field in Trust

2011 sees the launch of Asda’s new partnership with Fields in Trust, the charity that protects and improves playing fields to ensure that everyone has access to free, local outdoor space for sport, play and recreation.

Fields in Trust was founded in 1925 as the National Playing Fields Association by King George V, who wanted to improve the sport and play facilities available to children and over the years, the King George’s Fields have been a distinguished part of Fields in Trust’s work.

Since that time, more than 1260 playing fields across the country have been protected by Fields in Trust, and the permanence of these sites will ensure that communities have access to outdoor space for generations to come.

We want you to help support us to make sure these are protected for the future – you can help us create this great legacy by filling in this form and sending it to your local council and ask them to join in the Challenge and protect playing fields and parks.
