Alexandra Burke and friends support Tickled Pink

We’re hosting a fabulous fundraising concert for Tickled Pink in the new year featuring Alexandra Burke and some very special guests.

Alexandra is an ambassador for Breast Cancer Care and she’s picked the line-up which will feature Chipmunk, Dionne Bromfield, The Saturdays and X-Factor winners Little Mix.

Happening at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in West London on 12th January, this fantastic “Girls’ Night Out” follows on from our “Girls’ Night In” theme for this year’s Tickled Pink campaign.

All of the money from ticket sales will go to breast cancer charities – and you can show your support now by booking your tickets here. If you’re an Asda customer or colleague you can get tickets for just £20 by using the promotional code Tick20.

Alexandra says: “It is going to be such a great evening of music and entertainment all in aid of a really important cause.”

“I’ve been a Breast Cancer Care Ambassador for a number of years now and am delighted to work with Asda in supporting their campaign and helping them to continue the fantastic work that they do to support breast cancer charities.”

Three Peaks walkers raise £30k for Tickled Pink

More than 200 colleagues from across the business got together to climb the Yorkshire Three Peaks and raise £30,000 for Tickled Pink.

Colleagues from Asda’s home office, distribution centres and stores met on a Friday afternoon in the little village of Horton in Ribblesdale to begin the 24.5-mile circular walk across Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Kathryn Whitham from our trading law team says: “I wanted to take part because I love a challenge, and sometimes you’ve got to push yourself to see what you really can achieve. There were a lot of people with sore feet at the end of the day, but despite the pain, we kept going – fueled mostly by jelly babies.”

“Weatherwise, we went through everything we possibly could. It was rainy, sunny and windy all on the same day! But even with the hard work it was a good day and was definitely worth it for a good cause!”

Lisa Jackson, Tricia Dunn and Zoe Simcox, canteen colleagues from Langdale depot, raised a fantastic £600 in sponsorship money between them.

Lisa says: “We saw it on the colleague noticeboard at work and thought it was a great idea to walk for a good cause.”

“We’d really like to thank the support team. None of us had done anything like it before, and the team really looked after us, walking part of the way with us and making sure the drinks at the checkpoints kept coming, which really helped.”

Thanks and well done to everyone who took part.

Tickled Pink wins Breast Cancer Campaign award

Tickled Pink has been awarded Breast Cancer Campaign’s Outstanding Corporate Partner Achievement award in recognition of the £5 million that we’ve raised so far for the charity.

Fiona Campbell-Reilly, head of Asda in the community, was presented with the award at the campaign’s awards ceremony on Thursday 19th May at the House of Lords.

Fiona says: “We are proud to have been awarded the Campaign’s Outstanding Corporate Partner Achievement award.”

“Tickled Pink has been a great success so far thanks to the help of suppliers, customers and colleagues and they remain as motivated today as they did 14 years ago.”

Breast Cancer Campaign is one of the two breast cancer charities supported by Tickled Pink, and the money our colleagues and customers raised over the last five years have helped to fund 57 research projects across the country to date.

We’ve also funded four scientific fellowships worth nearly £2 million, helping the campaign retain the best medical research scientists in the UK. You can search for projects in your area using our interactive map to the right.

Last year we also donated £1 million to Breast Cancer Campaign to help fund the world’s first ever breast tissue bank. This is an important resource for cancer researchers in the country, allowing scientists from all over the nation access to a central breast tissue bank.

Pamela Goldberg, the chief executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, said on the night: “Congratulations to Asda for winning this prestigious award recognising their outstanding contribution to the charity.”

“It is thanks to the continued support and commitment from companies such as Asda that we are able to fund innovative world-class research to help us improve the lives of breast cancer patients and beat the disease and develop new and exciting initiatives like the Tissue Bank.”
