Asda launched the Tickled Pink campaign back in 1996 to raise money to help improve the lives of people with breast cancer, both now and in the future. Entering its 14th year, Asda's Tickled Pink campaign benefits two breast cancer charities - Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign and since it started, our work has raised over £21 million.

The Pedal Power team crosses the finish line!

Asda Chairman Andy Bond and the Pedal Power cycling team have finally finished their challenging bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

After eleven days of cycling, the team arrived at their destination in high spirits, having cycled 1,111 miles across the length of the country. They were welcomed with cheers and hugs by family, friends and a group of Asda colleagues from Elgin who travelled up to offer the team support.

Despite having to get used to cycling on a tandem bike at the last minute, Jim and Elwyn accumulated a mileage of over 1,000 miles in the eleven days – a fantastic achievement indeed. They made it to John O’Groats alongside the rest of the team, just in time to celebrate having raised over £2.2 million for Tickled Pink!

A great big thank you to the Pedal Power team for their commitment and dedication to raising such a significant amount for the Tickled Pink campaign!

If you want to catch up on the stories from the team’s end-to-end journey, visit the Pedal Power blog, where you can see videos and messages from the team on their ride.

How it's all spent: the Tickled Pink shopping list

This year is a big year for Tickled Pink, and Asda colleagues and customers have been going all out to raise as much money as possible towards the campaign.

Tickled Pink supports two charities: Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign. To show how they plan to use the money that Tickled Pink raises, both charities have put together this “shopping list” of the things that are essential to their work.

It’s amazing how much even small amounts can help towards the work they do – and with the amount of money we’ve been raising this year, we hope that some of their bigger projects, such as research fellowships and women’s forums will receive more financial support.

World record holders

Loch Ness legends raise £135,000 for Tickled Pink

Asda’s senior meat buyer Jim Viggars and a team of 28 colleagues and suppliers completed a truly monster challenge when they set a new Guinness World Record by paddling the length of Loch Ness in kayaks.

The team took just five hours and 19 minutes to complete the 21 miles non-stop to raise more than £134,000 for Tickled Pink.

The video shows the team leaving Fort Augustus at 7 in the morning – and crossing the finishing line in glorious sunshine together as they arrived at Dores Beach more than one hour ahead of their own expectations:

Jim said he was “really really really proud of the team – it’s been a great day!”

There was only one capsize during the 21 mile paddle – but lots of aching limbs. Our meat and fish category director Rick Bourne said he was “really shattered”, adding: “I’m pleased it’s over. My legs are hurting. My shoulders are hurting.”

Well done, and big thanks to the whole team.

Asda colleagues stride out for Breast Cancer Care

Every year hundreds of women take part in Pink Ribbonwalks to raise money for Breast Cancer Care – one of our two Tickled Pink charities – and this year 40 Asda colleagues joined a 500-strong turnout of walkers at Harewood House in West Yorkshire.

The walk, on Saturday 5 June, was one of four Pink Ribbonwalk events across the country where the participants have either experienced breast cancer themselves or know someone who has.

Asda Chief Financial Officer Judith McKenna was there to sound the starting claxon and take part in the 10-mile walk.

Fifteen of the Asda colleagues started earlier in the day on a 20-day walk, with the rest setting out on the 10-mile walk in the afternoon. Check out the gallery for some action shots.
